About

Our Vision

A community that comes together and supports young mothers in raising their child.

Our Mission

Our mission is to improve the welfare of children by offering support and guidance to young, first-time mothers in raising their child by overcoming financial hardship and providing a support system.

Our Process

Unexpected has no paid employees. All work is done by those who choose to volunteer their time and energy.

Unexpected uses 100% of donations to serve mothers in need. Everything that comes in, goes directly to the clients and client programs.

Unexpected works to make sure that all of our events are child-friendly so that mothers do not have to pay the extra expense of child care.

Unexpected will refer mothers to other programs if we cannot fulfill their needs requests. We believe that if we don’t have the answer, we can help find someone who might.

Our Values

01

Honesty

We honor each other by always telling the truth.

02

Respect

We treat everyone with dignity and respect.

03

Camaraderie

We embrace continued support from our community.

Unexpected NC has three core values: honesty, respect, and camaraderie. Through our programming, we offer new mothers a chance to be themselves and share their honest parenting stories and struggles so that they can begin to overcome. We respect their individual journeys, as every pathway to success is unique. We work to foster a judgement-free environment so that mothers can find their own meaning of independence. Finally, we want to build a community of mothers and women who support each other openly and unconditionally. Through our events and donations, Unexpected will allow mothers to feel supported and belonging in a way that is uplifting and positive.
